Biscuit salami, a kind of unbaked cookies, made to look like slices of salami, is a very popular dessert in Romania.
Biscuit salami is a combination of smashed biscuits, milk, butter, and cocoa powder enriched with raisins, nuts or Turkish delight. The mixture is formed into a salami shape, refrigerated, and then sliced and served.
It’s absolutely delicious, very easy to make with a handful of ingredients and no baking required J
Kids love biscuit salami and you can involve them in the preparation process. For example, you can ask them to smash the biscuits into small pieces

Ingredients for biscuit salami

- 500gr simple biscuits
- 300ml milk
- 100gr butter
- 100gr granulated sugar
- 3 tablespoons cocoa
- vanilla/rum flavor
- 100gr hydrated raisins
- 2-3 tablespoons coconut flakes, dried
For hydrating the raisins use a cup of orange juice or water. Soak them for 2-3 hours.

How to make biscuits salami

Smash the biscuits into small pieces. You can smash them by hand. I prefer to place biscuits into a large saucepan and smash them with the potato masher.
Place milk, butter and sugar in a saucepan. Place the saucepan over medium heat, stirring continuously, until combined. It’s not necessary to bring to a boil.
Add cocoa powder and stir to combine.

Remove from heat and add your favorite flavor. Don't let cool.
Pour immediately over the smashed biscuits and stir thoroughly.
Incorporate the raisins, drained.
Place this mixture onto a plastic wrap sprinkled with coconut flakes.
Roll the mixture in the plastic wrap, into a shape of a salami.
Wrap tightly and refrigerate for 6-7 hours, over night is even better.
Remove from plastic wrap, cut into slices and serve.
Keep in the fridge.
