Chili con carne, or simply “chili”, is a spicy stew containing chili peppers, beef, tomatoes and beans.
Chili con carne is an absolutely delicious, nourishing and easy to make dish. It can be served over rice or pasta.
Chili con carne may be served with toppings such as grated cheese, diced onions or sour cream.




Ingredients for Chili con carne recipe:

- 500gr minced beef
- 1 onions
- 4 garlic cloves
- 2 red peppers
- 1 can red beans (400gr)
- 1 can tomatoes (400gr)
- 2 tablespoons tomato puree
- 1/2 teaspoon chili powder
- 1/2 teaspoon oregano
- 1/2 teaspoon ground cumin
- salt an pepper to taste
- 100-150ml water or chicken stock
Optional: long grain rice to serve

How to make Chili con carne 

Place the minced beef into a lightly oiled non stick skillet. Place the skillet over medium heat and cook until the meat changes color.
Add the onions and red peppers, chopped.
Continue to cook, stirring occasionally, until the onions turn glossy.



Add the toamtoes, tomato puree, 100-150ml water (or chicken stock) and crushed garlic. Season with salt, pepper, chili powder, ground cumin and oregano.
Add the red beans, rinsed and drained.
Bring to a boil then reduce the heat to low and cook until slightly thickened and reduced, stirring occasionally
Serve chili con carne with fluffy rice, spaghetti or bread, as it is or topped with sour cream.
