If you are apple pie lovers, you really have to try these delicious apple pie bars. A little crispy on the outside, very flavored and sooo easy to make. It’s the easiest apple pie recipe!
To prepare these apple pie bars we use frozen puff pastry. So, we don’t have to prepare and roll the dough. All we have to do is to defrost it.
The apple must be cooked until reduced before assembling the apple pie bars. This is an important step of this recipe and you shouldn’t skip it.



Ingredients for apple pie bars (for a 25/35 baking tray)


- 800gr frozen puff pastry
- 2 kg apples
- 3-5 tablespoons sugar (or to taste)
- 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- confectioners’ sugar for dusting


How to make apple pie bars


Allow puff pastry to defrost at room temperature.
Wash and grate the apples, unpeeled.


Place the grated apples into a skillet (or a large pot). Add 3 tablespoons sugar. Place the skillet over medium heat and cook until reduced. At the end taste the apples and see if needed more sugar.
Remove from heat and add 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon. Set aside and allow to cool.
How to assemble apple pie bars
Divide the puff pastry into 2 equal sheets that feet the baking tray.
Place 1 sheet of puff pastry into the tray. Spread evenly the apples.
Place the 2nd sheet of puff pastry over the apples. Using a sharp knife, cut this second seet of dough into squares. Puff pastry cracks very easy after baking and it’s easier to cut it before.
Place the tray into the preheated oven and bake at 190ºC for 25-30 minutes.
Allow to cool and dust with confectioners’ sugar (and a bit of ground cinnamon, if you wish). Cut into squares, following the previous cut, and serve.
